At this comedy - the fifth in the "Peculiarities of the National..." series - national fishing is going on ice.

A young German, Werner Müller, turns out to be a volunteer in the neurological department of an ordinary St. Petersburg hospital. A foreigner, overwhelmed by the impulse to help all the sick and needy, has a long and eventful day ahead of him. Every now and then, finding himself in comical situations and making his way through misunderstandings, the volunteer discovers all the facets of the Russian national character.

The film is dedicated to the director-artist Alexander Rogozhkin, one of the creators of Russian mythology.

A boat crossing the Caribbean Sea. On board, Willem Dafoe opens a briefcase that casts a golden glow on Christopher Walken's face. In a fit of ambition, Walken snatches up a swordfish and plunges it into Dafoe's abdomen, causing him to writhe in pain. In his death throes, Dafoe grabs another swordfish and lops off Walken's head. As he descends into the deep sea, Walken's head will discover that ambition always knocks twice.
